After a fantastic win at Cartmel on Saturday the 1st team came into this game full of confidence and determined to add another trophy to the clubs already bulging cabinet. The blues mounted attack after attack under the Giant Axe floodlights bringing early chances for Lewis and Sanderson. The breakthrough came on 8 minutes when Steven Miller drilled a free kick home from 20 yards giving Booth in the Hoops goal no chance. A fine reward for a player who has often showed great patience and waited for his chance to shine, choosing a great game to do it. Chisholme and Turner were excellent in midfield, Stirzaker and Lewis were causing problems upfront and Eccles and Park outstanding at the back.
