First Half
A Storeys side with a winning mentallity and determination to lift the clubs 1st trophy of the season bossed the half in every department from start to finish. Simon Diamond was made Captain in the absence of the injured Jonny Byers and Stuart Morgan, he did his side proud with a disciplined central midfield performance. Redpath was lethal on the left, Steven Creed unplayable alongside David Leslie and Mark Chisholme athletic throughout. Creed crossed for Chisholme to head home for the first goal. Creed then made it 2-0 from the spot after Callum Redpath was brought down by Goodwin. Another blatent penalty was waved away and Storeys also struck the post. 2-0 at half time though it could/should have been more.

Second Half
Halton came out in much more determined mood putting the outstanding Storeys back four under pressure without managing any clear attempts on goal until Paul Woods was forced into hooking the ball from the goal line. Ainsworth came on for the injured Redpath who had terrorised Rangers all game with his pace. The game was all but settled when Creed scored his 2nd and Storeys 3rd sliding the ball under the Halton Goalkeeper from 10 yards. Creed was then booked for his "shirt off" celebration!!!! Leslie continued to excell upfront as did Dufton and Westworth at centre half, Flynn shackled Halton's playmaker Lund and Fraser rolled back the years with an all action display. Halton scored a consolation through Jeffreys. Luke Brooks replaced the then tired Fraser and sat in on the left. Andy Mason in the Storeys goal barely had a save to make but when called upon was always comfortable. The outstanding Dave Leslie took the "Man Of The Match" award. An excellent win in front of a superb support left manager Graham Clark with a tear in his eye!
